1950年出生于美國(guó)密歇根州。汽車城唱片旗下藝人，美國(guó)黑人歌手，作曲家，音樂(lè)制作人，社會(huì)活動(dòng)家，盲人。擅長(zhǎng)多種樂(lè)器，如電子琴，鋼琴等鍵盤樂(lè)器，口琴，鼓，吉他等。是一位唱樂(lè)皆精的全能藝人。
到目前為止史提夫·汪達(dá)有9首單曲成為美國(guó)年度排行冠軍曲，獲得過(guò)“最佳R&B男歌手”、“最佳流行男歌手”、“最佳專輯”等22座格萊美獎(jiǎng)，及一座奧斯卡最佳電影歌曲獎(jiǎng)，及2004年度公告牌獎(jiǎng)（Billboard）之世紀(jì)成就獎(jiǎng)。（Century Award）。唱片銷量超過(guò)7000萬(wàn)張。創(chuàng)作了大量膾炙人口的音樂(lè)作品。為美國(guó)樂(lè)壇一致公認(rèn)的“國(guó)家一級(jí)人物”。
